Draft Marine Bill is now before the House of Commons.
The Marine Bill will not bring the offshore oil and gas industry fully within its remit, with regulations of the industry continuing under BERR. However, there will be some implications e.g. some controls under FEPA and the Coast Protection Act would be transferred to the Petroleum Act (and under BERR). Elements of the Marine Bill (e.g. spatial planning) that had clear implications would be adopted. |
