Welcome to the Oil & Gas UK Environmental Legislation Website. The aim of this site is to provide access to information on statutory environmental requirements for offshore and onshore upstream oil and gas operations. The website provides guidance on consent applications, statutory limits for discharges and emissions, and what statutory and industry reporting mechanisms are in place. Guidance is also given on consent renewal, variation and what to do in the event of non-compliance.

The website is maintained and updated on a quarterly basis to ensure the information provided is accurate and up to date (see How to Use Site for more information). Latest News and Ongoing Consultations is updated more frequently as required.

The contents of the site is driven by the users, and if anyone has suggestions for additional topics or summary tables please contact us. In addition any feedback on broken links, errors or general tidbits for inclusions will be welcomed.

4 April 2011 - New Offshore Chemical Regulations Guidance (pdf file) and new Offshore Petroleum Activities (Oil Pollution Prevention and Control) Guidance (pdf file) is published on the DECC website. Note: revisions to the guidance are not yet incorporated in this website, and will be included at the next quarterly review.

31 March 2011 - DECC launch consultation on charging a fee in respect of offshore (oil and gas) installations and pipelines decommissioning programmes under the Petroleum Act 1998. Closing date for comments 22 June 2011.

22 March 2011 - Scottish Government launches consultation on selected seal haul out sites for protection against harrassment. Read More. Closing date for comments 21 June 2011.

21 March 2011 - SEPA is seeking views on a waste data strategy for Scotland is being developed in accordance with the requirements of Scotland’s Zero Waste Plan which was published in June 2010. Read More (pdf file). Closing date for comments 2 May 2011.

18 March 2011 - The UK Marine Policy Statement has been jointly published today by all UK Administrations as part of a new system of marine planning being introduced across UK seas.

15 March 2011 - Scottish draft Marine Plan issued for consultation. Closing date for comments 7 June 2011
